Emirates First Class: Top ten things that are over the top!

We all know that you get some pretty nice food and a bigger seat in first class, but some of the things Emirates offer in First Class are just over the top.  This was my top 10 list of the most over the top things on an Emirates First Class flight.

1

The Shower

My favourite part is the shower. It’s just so ridiculous that you can have a shower in the air!! I mean I can be naked and wet 40,000 feet in the air and it’s legal!!  It’s just insane!!! The shower pretty is pretty good too! And you get five minutes of water!!! SO GOOD!!!!

2

The heated floor that you can dial up and down

Oh and get this, you step out of the shower and the floor of the bathroom is heated. And if it’s too hot or your delicate aristocratic feet, you can dial down the heating. RIDICULOUS!

3

The hidden toilet

Can you find the toilet in this picture! Yeah, it took me a while to figure out where to go too!

4

The door

A door that closes is just cool!

5

The gold lined mini-bar

I can imagine how the corporate meeting went at Emirates.

  • “We need something fancy in the first class cabin!!!”
  • “how about a mini bar”
  • “No, Not fancy enough”
  • “how about a gold mini bar?”
  • “No, you plebs! Needs more fancy!!!”
  • “How about a gold mini bar with mirrors and crystal glasses?”
  • “NO!!!! You Idiots!!!”
  • “Okay okay, how about a gold mini bar with mirrors and crystal glasses that rises up and down from a walnut case with the press of a gold plated button”
  • “Perfection!”

6

The spa concierge

I didn’t know this until I got on the plane. There is literally a person on the plane that only takes care of the 2 toilets and showers and does nothing else. It’s her job to make sure the toilet is clean after every use, the shower floor is dry, the little towel towers are stacked. She also comes around and organises the shower times with you and makes your herbal teas and health snacks etc.

7

The Caviar course

Yup, you get Caviar as your first course.  I mean, that shouldn’t be a surprise. Of course you do.  What’s first class without those salty little buggers!

The Two Emirates Bars

A bar on a plane! NOT GOOD ENOUGH. We need 2 bars! Yup. First class passengers have access to 2 bars. The business class fully stocked bar at the back with standing and seating room and a barman. Or the more calming oasis of the front bar, which is more like a mini day spa, where the spa concierge can make you a cocktail or a herbal tea.  Bliss….

The 1000 dollar bottle of cognac

Hennessy Paradis Cognac currently retails for around $1000. And for a cognac noob like me, it tasted pretty good. The stewardess poured about 100 dollars worth in to my glass, making each small sip about 10 dollars.  Wowsers!

The unnecessarily large touch screen TV

How big is too big? Who care? Just make it fill the wall!!! That’s Emirates philosophy.  The TV is 32 inches, which is massive on a plane, and only 1 meter in front of you. And it’s fully touch screen!! Why would anyone need a 32 inch touch screen? Purely for bragging rights.
